Sanlam released its operational update for the first four months of 2022. It grew its Life insurance new business volumes by 8% and general insurance new business volumes by 7%. Its Life insurance recorded much lower COVID-19 excess mortality claims than the previous year. Its net value of new covered business dropped 16% due to the impact of product-mix changes. Group net client cash inflows of R26.7 billion were down 5%, due to lower investment flows in Sanlam Emerging Markets and the Sanlam Investment Group. Sanlam concluded that these results show its commitment to being a trusted partner, that delivers long-term value to all its stakeholders.
