Liberty said it conducted research to understand retirement trends from an insurer perspective. It found that 31% of respondents between 30-35 have established a proper retirement savings plan. This increases to 63% for those aged between 45-49. Liberty said it also showed that 59% perceive Retirement Annuities (RAs) as expensive. In addition, it found that up to 64% of Indian respondents have an RA, followed by 58% of whites, 51% of coloureds and only 47% of blacks. Liberty concluded that partnering with a financial advisor and starting early is the best way to secure the life one aspires for.
