PPS Investments drew on the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit estimates that only 40.57% of the population is financially literate, to stress the importance of financial planning. The 2021 PPS Graduate Professional Index found that 12% of professionals have no type of financial planning and their primary focus is on surviving. Given the constrained financial situation globally, PPS warned businesses and households not to be tempted to cancel their insurance cover, as it could lead to financial ruin. Rather, people should consult a financial advisor if feeling overwhelmed, confused or uncertain about finances.
