FNB wrote an article stating that it has paid out over R500 million in ‘pre-emptive’ Life insurance claims since 2018. FNB said it remains the only Life insurer in South Africa to use the Department of Home Affairs’ Population Registry, to initiate claim payments on behalf of beneficiaries, when the policyholder dies. In addition, it used the opportunity to promote its free Purchase Protect Insurance cover. This is only for qualifying purchases made with an FNB Virtual Card and covers tangible items such as clothing, jewellery, handbags, cell phones and laptops, up to R15 000.
